Welcome to another post of "The Café and Restaurant Inspo Series," this time to Bangkok, Thailand! A country well-known for its beautiful beaches, friendly people, and of course, delicious and extremely affordable street food markets.
But they also have some beautiful and unique cafés and restaurants that I would love to try out if I ever get the chance to travel there. Here are a few that are already on my future wish list!
1. Stretsis Parlour
Is it just me, or does this feel like something straight out of Alice in Wonderland? Stretsis Parlour is a combo café/retail store, perfect for those who need a break from shopping. Their cakes and coffees look amazing. Definitely budget more time for photos!
This café is also a great example of how colors and patterns can look busy, but still work so well together. The key is choosing complementary prints and colors. Pink and green are always a winning combination, while white daisies form the perfect backdrop for the more subtle floral print on the walls. The gold accents tie everything together nicely and warm up the room. If you love this style, but worry that it may be a bit much to try at home, why not start with a smaller space like a bathroom or guest room? Don't be afraid to go for it!
2. Floral Café
Yes, that cute puppy is stealing the show, but if you're able to force your eyes away, that dried floral background is pretty stunning too! This aptly named Floral Café seems to change up their décor frequently, adding colorful flowers and lights depending on the season.
Don't overlook dried flowers when decorating your space. Fresh flowers are expensive, and may not be readily available throughout the year. Pair them with a vase you love and the simplicity of dried flowers may be the subtle finishing touch you need. They're readily available for purchase, but if you're feeling adventurous, there's plenty of online tutorials that teach you how to make your own.
3. Lhong Tou Cafe
If I ever have a bucket list of restaurants, this will be on it. I just can't get over the novelty of this double-decker style dining! They serve dim sum, but add their own twist (for example, custard buns that are fried instead of steamed). For those not familiar with it, dim sum is a type of Chinese cuisine that consists of small dishes meant to be shared. Sort of like tapas.
Obviously their main attraction is their unique seating, but I was also drawn to that peacock statute! As you can see, just one eye-catching piece is already sufficient to reflect the personality of the room. Don't hesitate to be bold and choose a piece you love to elevate your own space. It could be just one bigger piece, or if you prefer, a number of smaller pieces dispersed throughout. Whatever makes your place feel like your own.
4. Baker x Florist
As its name suggests, this store combines two of my favorite things: baking and flowers! Light and airy, with large windows, this café is a lovely place to sit down for a break after a long day of sightseeing. They also have a special corner that shows that it doesn't take very much space to create an area you love.
I love everything about this! Wouldn't this make a lovely reading nook? Create a similar space at home with a small wicker sofa, lots of pillows to curl up against, a table to put your coffee mug and books, and a canopy to give you that bit of privacy. And take a page from Baker x Florist with soothing neutrals, unexpected pops of color, and eye-catching prints and patterns.
5. Medici Kitchen & Bar
Medici Kitchen & Bar is an Italian restaurant located inside Hotel Muse Bangkok. Stunning interiors show that you don't need windows to make a space look beautiful. The hotel sometimes offers staycation packages that include vouchers for Medici Kitchen & Bar, so make sure to take advantage of that if you decide to stay there.
The combination of dark brown, black, blue, and off-white is elegant and cozy at the same time, and I think will also work wonderfully in a bedroom or home office. Pillows are a simple way to add that beautiful blue color, and can be easily exchanged for other colors if you want to switch things up once in a while. Velvet pillows will give that luxurious sheen.
If you have a Thailand trip coming up (lucky you!), let me know if any of these are on your itinerary!
