In this next post of "The Café and Restaurant Inspo Series," I present to you the land of anime, electronics, and cherry blossoms – Tokyo, Japan!

1. Aoyama Flower Market TEA HOUSE

I actually went to this café in 2017! It's just as spectacular in person. The only thing I didn't like was the 1-hour wait in the middle of the week. But I guess that's expected when you're trying to get into one of the prettiest cafés in all of Tokyo.

Look how beautiful it is! If I win the lottery, I'll build a sunroom and replicate the whole place at home. That's how much I love it. Since my chances of getting hit by lightning is higher, I'll have to settle for maybe a black iron glass-topped table in my backyard, with lots of green leafy plants, vines, and flowers in gray pots around me.

2. Cat Cafe MOCHA

Cat Cafe MOCHA is a chain of cat cafés in Tokyo. I know it's silly, but I feel like I'm cheating on my cat so I've never gone to one (I can hear her yowling – "What?! You leave me with grandpa while you're off snuggling another cat?!").

I never knew that light wood could work so perfectly with gray (which BTW, matches the kitty's fur purrfectly!). It gives such a light and airy feeling. I can totally see a living room with a light wood coffee table, beige sofa, and gray cushions in different prints and textures.

Unfortunately, I don't have room for that ginormous cat tree – maybe if I have one that big at home my cat will forgive me for anything!

3. Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo

Another one that I've been lucky enough to have visited in person! It's located in Nakameguro, an area of Tokyo easily accessible by public transit. It's all wood and copper! And see all those beautiful copper cherry blossoms cascading down from the ceiling? Be prepared for crowds though. I walked around for probably 15 mins (it's 4 stories!) before I was able to find a seat.

Maybe that's why copper pots and pans hanging in the kitchen have always been so popular. The effect is stunning. But I personally think we can incorporate copper elements into other rooms as well. Copper bath accessories are so pretty. If you prefer, gold or rose gold will give a similar effect.

4. HIGASHIYA GINZA

A confectionary shop that sells a wide selection of traditional Japanese sweets and tea. If your style is more minimalistic, then I think you'll appreciate how simple, yet so effective their style is.

I've noticed that it's quite common for cups in Japan to have no handles. Yes, if filled with hot tea it can get quite hot. But holding it by the rim in one hand, supporting it from the bottom with the other, and feeling the warmth in your hands can be quite soothing and comforting. Add in those calming dark tones and you'll have yourself a zen moment!

5. bills Japan

bills is actually from Australia, but has been lovingly embraced by Japan. I've been to bills in Tokyo, but at a different location, and I really wish I went to this one instead! I love any décor where books are the star of the show. It just looks so inviting – basically goading you to curl up with one!

I also really like the seemingly random artwork on the walls. That quirkiness immediately modernizes the room. Or maybe framed prints of your kids' artwork? I'm sure they're pretty creative too!

Have you been to any of these cafés or restaurants? What do you think of them? Let me know!
