My favorite part about streaming services is being able to binge watch them. I was ecstatic when I realized that I can binge watch all 10 seasons of Friends! Sure, I try to be mindful of how much screen time I get, but it's just so nice to curl up on the sofa with my cat and spend a few hours watching my favorite shows when I have one of those days where I really don't feel like doing anything and it's pouring outside. Today, I share some of my go-to ideas for creating the perfect binge-watching experience!
1. Lots of munchies

Watching TV just isn't the same without snacks. I like variety, and my favorites are raisins, BBQ corn nuts, and chocolate-covered almonds. But instead of using bowls, I prefer using large teacups to put them in. That way, I can put them onto a tray, making it much easier to clean up (and take to the kitchen for refills!). However, if I'm eating anything with chocolate in it, then I like using something that has a lid so that my cat, who is a notorious thief, can't get at it.
2. Meals that I can eat in my living room

OK, I know I'm asking for it and will likely end up with a mess all over my lap one day, but there's just something so comforting about sitting cross-legged on my sofa and eating a steaming, hot bowl of soup while watching TV at the same time. Chicken noodle soup is my fav, although minestrone is a close second.
I like using bowls with handles, or at least something that allows me to get a better grip. If you prefer not to take the risk, then I think rolled sushi is an excellent option. You can eat it with your hands if you want, and best of all, you don't have to look down at your plate and miss a single second of your show!
3. Wrap yourself in a blanket

I love wrapping myself in a blanket before settling in on the sofa. I feel cozy and my cat loves it too, judging from the way she starts kneading me as soon as she hops into my lap! I usually keep a throw on the back of the sofa all the time. It's just such a simple and easy way to add a pop of color to the room. Depending on the season, I'll change it up for a thinner or thicker version, and depending on my mood, will change to a brighter or darker color. The possibilities are endless!
4. Surround yourself with cushions

I love romantic comedies, but I also love scary shows. Who knew that Stranger Things could be so creepy?! When I'm watching a scary show, I love to surround myself with cushions. It's strange (haha!), but it makes me feel safer even though I'm pretty sure those cushions will be totally useless if some supernatural being does break into my house.
Like blankets, cushions are also a very easy and simple way to add color to the room. With so many cushions though, I do have to be careful about checking them before flopping down. One time, I was about to sit down when I saw a white paw sticking out. My cat was napping underneath them!
5. A nice hot drink to end

There's nothing I love more than to watch the episode of my binge watching session with a cup of hot chocolate. But I'm such a klutz, I can't trust myself with a regular mug while sitting on the sofa. The last time I spilled something on the sofa, it took me multiple scrubbings before I finally got the stain out. So now the only thing I use if I'm in the living room is a travel mug with a lid. Even if it's not entirely leakproof, at least it keeps the damage to a minimum.
You're probably wondering, why don't I just go and binge watch in the kitchen? I've tried, but it's just not the same. Don't ask me why though!
